Chris Loh, the founder of YingYang alternative, grew up in this historical city of Malacca, Malaysia, a picturesque little town with all things old, and a laid back pace of life. Being an Asian, massage, bodywork, spiritual healing and the likes were a daily affair and part of his culture and life. There were no massage schools back when he decided to leave the corporate world for a more holistic approach to life, and so his early training was passed on in the very traditional methods from generations old techniques, taught by an old, local healer with a very hands on style. His knowledge of the human anatomy as a Fitness Trainer made it much easier for him to understand how massage and bodywork affects the body’s system. Chris furthered his journey of massage education and trained in Traditional Thai Massage at the world renowned Wat Pho Traditional Medical and Massage School, Bangkok. He completed courses for General Thai Massage and Advanced Thai Medical Massage Therapy and stayed for a further 6 months assisting trainees. Chris has since, also worked extensively throughout Malaysia, Singapore and the UK.

In 2001, Chris opened Melaka’s first massage boutique, YingYang alternative, operating from Baba House Hotel, which quickly became established as one of the first and finest places to have a pure, no frills massage. 
YingYang alternative has now evolved from the 20’ x 20’ space within the Hotel, to being the parent company of massasutra (meaning the art of massage) which can now be found in a 150 year old pre-war house in the centre of Chinatown, Melaka, a Unesco World Heritage Zone.
After laboriously restoring this charismatic old house, it is also now home to Melaka’s first international Massage and Spa Academy (Malaysia) and a one of a kind rustic spa. Also, from this marvelous old house, in house designed massage pants, massage oils, alternative Spa accouterments and artwork are also produced. It has an absolutely charming blend of traditional, minimalist and urban retro. Massasutra is a not to be missed experience whenever one is in Melaka.

Chris has incorporated his experience, in Wat pho Thai Traditional, Aromatherapy, Classic, Traditional Malay, Watpho Thai Reflexology which spans over 12 years, as well as his knowledge as a Fitness Instructor, into the massage training arena. With a focus on the essentials of massage and the human body, and a desire to share, Chris Loh has formed these valuable essences in the massage and bodywork courses.
